I would love to take credit for this idea and find but it was actually a couple of my good girlfriends and their husbands who not only found this Lego set but realized that it came in the perfect amount of bags to assemble so that it could become an Advent calendar.
If you’re around my age, then Home Alone was definitely a part of your childhood. I am pretty sure the line “A lovely cheese pizza all for me” is still used every time we order one for our kids. When they told me that Lego came out with the McCallister house as a set, including the inside scenes of the house, I thought it was so cool. Then I told my husband – and he was obsessed.
These are currently sold out online, but we have great friends, and one of them managed to find one in-store and called me immediately to see if I wanted it. Um, duh!
So, this year we plan to surprise our kids on December 1st with the Home Alone Lego set and build one portion of it every night until Christmas. I haven’t thought far enough about where this bad boy will be stored all year, but we are definitely looking forward to making some memories as we build this together!
While it’s sold out online, you might be able to snag one in your local store. Word on the street is that they get new shipments in several times a week – they don’t know what they will receive, but you can give them a call and reserve one for pickup if they have it in stock!
